Social Customs
*Both common elves and
nobility are expected to kneel before the Emperor/ess.
*Common elves often bow to nobility, though not all nobles expect such an action
in informal settings.
*Daga elves will often test those of the Empire, though the details of these
tests is unknown.
*While not exactly racism,
colorism exists between Kondei and other elves. Lighter skinned elves of those
who have pale skins are viewed as being weaker and lesser in the scheme of
society. Someone with some Kondei blood or rich, dark skin would be viewed as
superior to all other lighter commoners.
*Military salutes consist of a taking one another by the elbow, a lower
ranked person will extend their arm, palm up, to a higher ranked person, and
they grasp one another at the elbow. If of the same rank, they will take
one another the same way, only from the side to show equality.
*Nobles will generally nod to each other in greeting, occasionally bowing as a
show of -great- respect.
*Superstitious elves will bow, kneel, or incline their heads in the presence of
a statue of the Goddess, believing that doing less is bad luck.
*Methods of prayer vary from kneeling to sitting, standing to a wide opened,
raise of the arms to the sky.
*JaiChen generally pray at sunrise, midday and sunset, and before eating.
*Elven ears are considered erogenous zones. Touching them in public would be
considered scandalous. Mouth to ear contact in a public setting is likely
to cause elders to faint. Ear piercings are considered scandalous when placed in
the upper tips of the ears.

Popular Expressions and
Phraseology

on parting.

shock.

"Well wasn't that soleish?"
"I didn't know he/she was from the Sole line!?"
"I failed to notice you were wearing violet today."
"Daddy (or momma) musta been a Sole."
* "Goddess bless" Greeting.

I know this can be difficult. So here is my best advice for you.
If you are looking to meet up with a player in particular, say the general
of the militia or sergeant of the militia, or the High Priest of the
JaiChen, then email
lgilber1@stu.wccnet.edu, either that, or PM Alaire on the discussion
board. I'll get in touch with who you need to see (please include
your general playtimes) and let them know that they're needed and soon!

Simple, simple. Ease of transportation. Gracchis are worth
about 10 times the amount of evar. So if you're in a wealthier area,
you're going to find gracchis are the standard currency.
There are other currencies, but they are in the other cultures, and do
not apply in the Empire of Tow.

The Blacklands are the Goblin/Goblyn lands. If you ever encounter
them, you will know them. It is a swampy area, full of blood, gore,
and remains that surrounds an enormous dead tree that is controlled by
Kuron Sage, the Goddess of Wrath. Unless you are a part of the
Goblin/Goblyn world, you'll know nothing else.
Bhydall is the Dwarvish village located in the mountains. Little
is known about it, though House Sole, over a hundred and fifty years ago
sent a family to live with the Dwarves there. They have made such an
impact, that the dwarves that live there, now feel an alliance toward the
elves of Tow, even though they still wish to have their own culture, and
because of that wish, welcome visitors, but no others who come to visit
are expected to stay.

The population of the Empire of Tow is: Two Million
The population of the city of Tow is: One Million
Elves may give birth every ten years, but multiple births are not rare,
because giving up of the life-force is such a traumatic event for the body
to undertake.

Plant Types
*Wood:
Several types of wood and plantlife are
scattered about the elven forests. Maple, oak, pine, and cedar are most
represented, though other rare woods can be found, from certain fruit trees,
which produce softer, more malleable woods. Flecking the lush elven woods from
just outside the main gates of the great city of Tow, northward to the barren
plains of the human lands, enormous, sacred redwoods are planted sparsely about
the amazing scenery.
*Fruit Trees:
Kora: Produces green, fleshy fruit. The skin is edible and almost sugary in both
texture and taste. It is very juicy and flavorful. Served raw or baked.
Aoki: Deep red in color, this fruit is often
used in certain dyes and paints. The vividly blood-hued fruit is sweet and tangy
to the taste, and the texture firm and crisp. Served raw or fried or baked.
Akahr: A dull orange skinned fruit with
innards of rich, deep green flesh. The flavor is overwhelmingly fruity sour,
often causing tasters to pucker. The flesh of the fruit is soft and could be
easily swallowed without chewing. Served raw rarely, and is usually baked.
Nepsa: Dark green in color, both on the thin
skinned surface, and the juicer, fleshier innards. The skin is easily broken by
teeth or knife, and is usually served raw.
*Other Fruits and Vegetables and Nuts:
Traditional grapes, cherries, raspberries, blackberries, carrots, potatoes,
radishes cucumbers, mangos, coconuts, mango, plums, starfruit, corn, tomatoes,
beans, peanuts, melons, strawberries,
cocoa beans, moko nuts, sanku nuts, and many others.
*Roots and Vines, Misc.:
Bloodroot: Black, thick skinned root, almost wooden in texture, filled with a
viscous, reddish-black hued flesh and juice that is easily sucked from the
shaft. Exceptionally bitter to the taste. Used
as sustenance raw, or flavoring for drinks and foods.
Jinh: Broad leaves of deep, rich green are
usually used for a traditional towskish tea. Also used for flavor in many
traditional Towskish baked goods. Slightly sweet, but strong in flavor.

Wild Mushrooms: In shades from rich, deep blue
to pale grey, some are poisonous and some are bitter. Many are used as flavoring
in traditional Towskish fare.
Thuja: Can be eaten with great caution, though
is usually smoked after some treating and drying time. The leaves are bright
green until dried to a russet-brown in color, ground and smoked.
Tobacco: Brown plants with a heady aroma, are
dried to smoke. Sometimes used as flavoring in cooking.
Addertongue: This short plant grows in thick
patches about the forest, one large leaf spiking the thin
shafted stem. Raw it is rather bitter, but after sauteing the flavor is rich and
heady.
Edamantum: A busy plant made up of rich, deep
green blooms. Enormous blooms in brilliant crimson dot the emerald of the plant.
The blooms are considered rare and precious.

Ancestors of the Towskish Nobility
This page is a wonderful
reference page of past family trees of the nobility past and present, and needs
help! We are trying to update the page for people who have been left out
(blame Alaire/Lisa because she went back to school and lost and forgot
everything but what her professors tell her every day)!
If you have information
you'd like to see included that is not currently, please let us know, ASAP!!!!
Email lgilber1@stu.wccnet.edu, and
I'll get to it as fast as I can, at the very least, I have a new computer and
will be able to successfully SAVE what you send me! Imagine that!
Also, if you see a glaring error, let me know! I don't want to
misrepresent past characters, but I can't possibly remember everything that
happened.

Also, if you see something
misrepresented, I will let you know if the misrepresentation is intentional.
The webpage is a documentation for IC events, and if say... a naughty Sole
decided to misrepresent history, well... who's to stop those crazy freaks?
Damn them and their secrecy and plotting!!!

Anyway, thanks for looking at the
page, and letting me know of any mistakes. You may have even let me know
of them before! Please don't take it as a slight! I am...

because of school. Blame those
guys.
